16/09/2009Russia completed to be the main importer of the American chicken meat

First for many years Russia purchased less American poultry meat than China. During seven months of 2009 USA delivered 336 500 tons at the Russian market (by 22.7% in comparison with the same period of 2008) and 374 100 tons to China.

The Russian experts consider that the import reduction to Russia is the beginning of long-term trend occurred as a result of quotas decrease, duties increase for non-quota meat as well as development of the Russian domestic poultry breeding.

Totally, in 2009 Russia imported more chicken meat than China as we import some volume from EC countries and Brazil, Mr. Dmitry Rylko, the general director of IKAR, reported. However if recently Russia has been the leader of imported poultry meat, now the difference is reduced up to several percents. Upon the results of 2009 China may outstrip Russia and become the main world importer of poultry meat, the expert has predicted.
